I was prompted to subscribe to CapCut pro a few weeks ago. Strangely enough, I just realized now that I never actually received a confirmation email/message for my purchase. In fact, I haven't even been logged in at all during this time, but I have had access to pro features.
My question is, how am I supposed to cancel my membership without a log in? There doesn't seem to be any account setting page showing up on the desktop app, and I have no email to reference on my account when connecting with support.
I tried logging in with TikTok, Google, email etc. and every time it seemingly just creates a fresh account that is not subscribed to pro.
Any ideas?
Hi,
This is a tricky situation. Given that you're accessing Pro features without having logged into an account and haven't received any confirmation emails, it's possible that the subscription was processed through your device's app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). Here's how you can manage and cancel such subscriptions:
1. Identify the payment source: Determine how the subscription was purchased then you can proceed to cancel the same
Check your bank/card statements: Look for any transactions related to CapCut or ByteDance. The transaction details will reveal some identifying information, even if it's just a transaction ID or a partial email address used for billing.
Payment platform history: If you used PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or any other payment platform, check their transaction history as well. The CapCut charge should be there.
-
Mobile App Stores:
- Google Play Store (Android): If you subscribed via an Android device, the subscription would be managed through your Google account.
- Apple App Store (iOS): If you used an iOS device, the subscription would be tied to your Apple ID.
-
CapCut Website:
- Subscriptions made directly through the CapCut website are managed via your CapCut account.
2. Check for subscription confirmation: Even without a confirmation email, you can verify active subscriptions through the respective platforms:
-
Google Play Store:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap on your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select "Payments & Subscriptions" > "Subscriptions".
- Look for CapCut Pro in the list.
-
Apple App Store:
- Open "Settings" on your device.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Select "Subscriptions".
- Check for CapCut Pro in your active subscriptions.
-
CapCut Website:
- Visit CapCut's login page
- Attempt to log in using any email addresses or social media accounts you might have used.
- Once logged in, click on your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Navigate to "Subscription" to view active subscriptions.
Identify which email or source you have used to make the purchase. This helps narrow down on your account details.
Accidental login: It also possible that you logged in with a different email or social media account than you usually use. Think back to when you first started using CapCut. Generally all CapCut subscriptions are tied to an account or a login.
3. Cancel the subscription: Once you've identified the platform through which the subscription was made:
-
Google Play Store:
- In the "Subscriptions" section, select CapCut Pro.
- Tap "Cancel Subscription" and follow the prompts.
-
Apple App Store:
- In the "Subscriptions" menu, tap on CapCut Pro.
- Select "Cancel Subscription" and confirm.
-
CapCut Website:
- After accessing the "Subscription" section, click on "Cancel Auto Renewal".
- Confirm the cancellation when prompted.
4. If you are still unable to determine the payment source:
-
Check all potential accounts:
- Review all your email accounts for any receipts or communications from CapCut, Google Play, or Apple.
- Log into CapCut using different email addresses or social media accounts to see if the subscription is linked to any of them.
-
Contact CapCut support:
- Reach out to CapCut's support team at [email protected] with as much information as possible.
- Provide details like possible email addresses used, payment methods, date and time on which payment being made. Also include screenshots within your CapCut app.
Last resort:
If you cannot locate your details at all and CapCut support was not able to help you or you are sure you didn't intentionally subscribe, contact your bank or credit card company.
Explain that you have an unauthorized charge from CapCut/ByteDance. They can help you dispute the charge and potentially block future payments. However, this should be a last resort after exhausting all other options.
