Hello, I got capcut pro because I saw an ad that they now have transcription-based editing (I canceled my subscription to Descript because I saw that Capcut now has it). However, I can't find where it is in the capcut Mac desktop version. When I looked it up online, I couldn't find any solutions other than using CapCut on a web browser. Would love help with this, thanks!
a lot of people seem to be suffering from this problem. they open CapCut and can see and use the Transcript-based editing feature; then at some point in the future the feature simply vanishes....

Hi,
Can you please try updating CapCut to latest release version to see if the problem persists. Also, try using VPN and connect from different country as some times certain features are restricted to select geographies.
Regards.
Hi,
It appears there might be some confusion about the availability of this feature across different CapCut versions.
Transcription-based editing is currently primarily available in the CapCut web version and the mobile app, but it is yet to be fully rolled out for Mac desktop application.
This functionality allows users to edit videos by manipulating the transcribed text, streamlining the editing process. Here's how you can access and utilize this feature:
Accessing transcription-based editing in CapCut for Mac:
-
Import your media:
- Open CapCut on your Mac.
- Click on "Create Project" and select "Import" from the media tab.
- Upload your video file and drag it into the timeline.
-
Generate the transcript:
- Select the "Transcript" option from the left toolbar.
- CapCut will automatically transcribe the audio from your video, displaying the text alongside timestamps.
-
Edit using the transcript:
- With the transcript generated, you can click on specific words or phrases to edit or remove them.
- Edits made in the transcript will reflect directly in the video timeline, allowing for precise adjustments.
If you are unable to find the Transcription-Based editing feature on Mac, here is what you can do:
- CapCut Web Version: Yes, transcription-based editing is a highlighted feature of the CapCut web version. CapCut's promotional materials focus on using this feature within the web browser interface.
- CapCut mobile app (iOS and Android): Transcription and auto-captions are core features in the mobile apps. Some form of text-based editing would be available in the mobile version, although the focus is often on auto-captions for accessibility and style.
- CapCut Mac desktop application: The transcription-based editing for direct text manipulation of the video timeline is not yet a standard feature in the Mac desktop application. While the desktop app has robust editing capabilities, the advertised transcription-based workflow is currently centered around the web version.

Look for features related to "Auto Captions" or "Text-to-Speech" in the desktop app's menus. While this isn't the same as editing directly from the transcript, it might offer some text-based workflow options.
-
