Hi there, I would like to bring to your attention an issue that I spotted recently. When adding captions in Cyrillic they do not animate properly with all the Presets or animations.

Hi,

You are encountering animation issues with Cyrillic captions in CapCut. It is a common challenge when working with different writing systems in video editing software, as not all features are always perfectly optimized for every language.

Here is a breakdown of why you might be seeing this problem and what you can try to work around it:

Possible reasons for animation issues with Cyrillic captions:

  • Font compatibility: Not all fonts are designed to fully support Cyrillic characters. Some animation presets might rely on specific font characteristics that are not present in all Cyrillic fonts. If the animation is designed for Latin script and the Cyrillic font doesn't have the same "shape" or metrics, the animation could break or look distorted.
  • Character encoding/rendering: There might be underlying issues with how CapCut is rendering Cyrillic characters during certain animations. Animation presets often involve complex manipulations of text properties (like letter spacing, scaling, rotation), and the software's rendering engine might not be handling Cyrillic perfectly in all these transformations.
  • Preset limitations: Some animation presets might be specifically designed and tested primarily with Latin-based scripts. The developers may not have fully tested or optimized every animation preset for Cyrillic or other non-Latin scripts.
  • Software bug: It is also possible that this is a bug within CapCut itself, especially if the issue is inconsistent across different animations or fonts that should support Cyrillic.

Troubleshooting steps and workarounds to try:

  1. Experiment with different fonts:

    • Try default CapCut fonts: Test with some of CapCut's default fonts that are explicitly listed as supporting "Cyrillic" or "Multi-language". These fonts are more likely to be well-integrated.
    • Ensure you're using fonts that fully support Cyrillic characters. Some fonts may not include the necessary glyphs, leading to animation issues.
    • Import fonts known for Cyrillic support: If you are using custom fonts, ensure they are robust fonts that are specifically designed to support Cyrillic script. You can search online for "best Cyrillic fonts" and import fonts into CapCut that are known for good Cyrillic rendering. Generally, sans-serif fonts like "Open Sans," "Roboto," "Noto Sans," and serif fonts like "Times New Roman," "PT Serif" are often good choices for Cyrillic. You can download all these fonts for CapCut from here.
    • Test basic fonts first: Start with very basic, clean fonts (like a simple sans-serif) to see if animations work better with a less stylized font. If basic fonts work, the issue might be with the complexity of more decorative fonts.
  2. Adjust animation parameters manually (instead of presets):

    • Use "Basic" Animations: Instead of relying on complex "Preset" animations, try using CapCut's more basic animation options (like "Fade In," "Slide," "Zoom"). These simpler animations might be less prone to issues with Cyrillic rendering.
    • Customize Animations: If presets are problematic, try creating your animations manually using keyframes and adjusting properties like:
      • Position: Simple movement animations might work better.
      • Opacity: Fades and simple dissolves.
      • Scale: Gentle scaling animations.
      • Avoid Complex Properties: Try to avoid animations that heavily distort the text shape, like complex rotations, warping, or animations that rely on very specific letter spacing, as these are more likely to have issues with Cyrillic.
  3. Check for text rendering settings (less likely in mobile apps, but check desktop):

    • If you are using CapCut Desktop, explore the application's settings or preferences. Look for any options related to "Text Rendering," "Font Rendering," "Language Support," or "Character Encoding." Sometimes, adjusting these settings can improve text display for different scripts. (However, CapCut Mobile may not have such detailed settings).
  4. Simplify text effects (if applied):

    • If you have added other text effects on top of the animation (like outlines, shadows, backgrounds), try temporarily disabling these effects to see if they are contributing to the animation problem with Cyrillic. Sometimes, combinations of effects and animations can cause rendering glitches.
    • Isolate Problematic Text: If certain animations don't work well with Cyrillic text, try separating the text into individual elements and apply animations separately. This can sometimes bypass rendering issues.
  5. Test with different animation presets:

    • Systematically try a range of different animation presets (from different categories in CapCut). Note down which presets work reasonably well with your Cyrillic text and which ones cause issues. This can help you identify if the problem is specific to certain preset types.
  6. Export and preview frequently:

    • After applying an animation, always export a short test clip and preview it on different devices to see how the animation actually looks in the final output. The preview within CapCut might not always be perfectly accurate.
  7. Report the issue to CapCut support:

    • If you've tried various fonts and manual adjustments and are still consistently having problems with Cyrillic animations, then report this issue directly to CapCut technical team at [email protected] or you can use feedback option available within the app interface. They need to be aware of script-specific problems to improve the software.
    • Provide them with:
      • Your device type (iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac) and operating system version.
      • CapCut app version.
      • Specific animation presets that are causing problems.
      • The Cyrillic font(s) you are using.
      • Ideally, a screen recording or screenshots showing the animation issue.
      • A sample of the Cyrillic text you are using.

Alternative approaches if CapCut remains problematic for Cyrillic animations:

  • Simpler animations in CapCut, advanced in other software: For projects heavily reliant on Cyrillic text animations, you could consider using CapCut for the basic video editing and then exporting your project (or just the text layers as transparent video if possible) to a more professional desktop video editing software (like DaVinci Resolve, Adobe After Effects, or even Vegas Pro, if you are familiar with it). These higher-end programs usually have more robust text rendering engines and finer control over typography and animations, which might handle Cyrillic better. This is a more complex workflow, but could be a solution for critical projects.
  • Pre-render text animations (advanced and time-consuming): As a very last resort and for specific, crucial animations, you could potentially create your text animations in separate software that handles Cyrillic perfectly (like After Effects or even some online animation tools that export video with transparency). Then, import these pre-rendered animation clips into CapCut and layer them over your video. This is very time-consuming and only practical for a small number of animations.

In summary, start by experimenting with different fonts (especially basic and Cyrillic-focused fonts) and try manual, simpler animations instead of complex presets. If the issue persists, reporting it to CapCut support is the best way to get the problem addressed in future updates. If you need absolutely perfect Cyrillic animations for critical projects right now, you might need to explore using more advanced desktop video editing software for those specific text elements.
