Macbook Pro

When I click the button to edit the cover/thumbnail, the application stops responding. It gets stuck in the mac spinning color wheel. Any suggestions? I have already updated to newest version.

Hi,

Let us tackle this issue with the Thumbnail Creator on your Macbook Pro. The spinning color wheel indicates that CapCut is stuck and not responding. Here is a breakdown of things you can try to resolve this:

1. Force Quit and Restart CapCut:

  • The first and simplest step is to force quit CapCut. You can do this by pressing Command + Option + Esc (Escape key). Select CapCut in the "Force Quit Applications" window and click "Force Quit."
  • Once CapCut is closed, wait a few seconds and then relaunch it. Try accessing the Thumbnail Creator again.

2. Restart Your Macbook Pro:

  • Sometimes, a simple system restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Go to the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select "Restart."

3. Check System Resources (Activity Monitor):

  • While CapCut is running, open Activity Monitor (you can find it in the Utilities folder within Applications).
  • Close unnecessary applications running in the background to free up RAM and CPU resources.
  • Go to the "CPU" and "Memory" tabs. See if CapCut or any other process is consuming an unusually high amount of resources when you try to access the Thumbnail Creator. This might give you a clue if your system is being overloaded.
  • Some software might conflict with CapCut, causing it to become unresponsive. Ensure that no other video editing or resource-intensive applications are running simultaneously.

4. Try a Different Project:

  • Does this issue happen with all your CapCut projects, or just this specific one? Try opening a different, smaller project and see if you can access the Thumbnail Creator there. If it works on other projects, the issue might be specific to the original project.

5. Clear CapCut Cache (Mac):

  • While you mentioned clearing the cache on your PC, the process might be slightly different on a Mac. Here is how you can try to clear the cache on macOS:
    • Quit CapCut completely.
    • Open Finder.
    • Click on Go in the menu bar, and then select Go to Folder... (or press Shift + Command + G).
    • Type in ~/Library/Application Support/com.lemon.lvvideoeditor and press Go.
    • Inside this folder, look for a folder named "cache" or something similar. Delete the contents of this folder. Be cautious when deleting files from the Library, but clearing the CapCut cache is generally safe.
    • Restart CapCut and try the Thumbnail Creator again.

6. Check for macOS Updates:

  • Even though you mentioned having the latest version of PC, make sure your Macbook Pro is also running the latest version of macOS. Go to the Apple menu > "System Settings" (or "System Preferences") > "General" > "Software Update." Install any available updates.

7. Reinstall CapCut:

  • If the issue persists, try completely uninstalling and then reinstalling CapCut.

8. Check Internet Connection:

  • While the Thumbnail Creator function should ideally work offline, sometimes CapCut relies on online resources for certain aspects. Ensure you have a stable internet connection.

9. Run CapCut with Administrative Privileges:

  • Try opening CapCut with elevated permissions:
    • In Finder, locate the CapCut app.
    • Control-click the app icon and choose Open from the shortcut menu.
    • Click Open again in the dialog that appears.
    • This method can help users bypass certain issues being faced on CapCut.

10. Other tips to try out:

  • Verify that your MacBook Pro meets CapCut's system requirements. CapCut is compatible with macOS versions that meet certain criteria. Ensure your operating system is up to date by going to Apple Menu > About This Mac > Software Update.

11. Report the Bug to CapCut technical support:

  • If none of the above steps work, it's possible that this is a specific bug within the macOS version of CapCut. You should report this issue directly to CapCut technical support by writing an email to [email protected].
  • Developers will have specific troubleshooting steps or be aware of the problem and working on a fix.

Could you let us know if any of these steps help? If not, providing more details about your Macbook Pro model and the specific version of macOS you are running might offer further clues.
