Hi, I didn't see a report button when I tried to report a template for being harmful. I've searched and I found nothing on reporting. Can you implement that for the web version? Because I've also seen an anti-indigenous and blackface template and couldn't find them to report them... at least I'm asking this first because I'd rather have them be taken down.

Hi,

You are raising a very important point about harmful content within CapCut templates. It is understandable that you want to report and have those templates removed.

Ensuring that such content is promptly addressed is crucial. But please note the following important points before proceeding:

  • CapCut's primary function is a video editing tool, and much of its template content is driven by user creation and trends, often tied to sister platform TikTok. This can make moderation challenging.
  • Because of the relationship with Tiktok, often times harmful content could be originating from TikTok.
  • Moderating user-generated content, especially video templates, is complex. Identifying and removing harmful content like anti-indigenous or blackface imagery requires careful review. Most of the times automated methods might not work on these content and require manual intervention.

Immediate steps which you can take:

  • Document the content: If possible, take screenshots or note down specific details of the offensive templates, including any identifiers or URLs.
  • Report via mobile app: While the web version may lack a direct reporting feature, the CapCut mobile app allows users to report inappropriate content. To do so:
  • Open the CapCut app on your mobile device.
  • Navigate to the template you wish to report.
  • Tap on the three dots ("...") associated with the template.
  • Select the "Report" option and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • This process will notify CapCut's moderation team about the content in question.

Contact CapCut moderation team directly:

If accessing the mobile app isn't feasible, or if you prefer direct communication, consider reaching out to CapCut's moderation team:

Email: [email protected]

Provide the following details:

  • Include the screenshots or detailed descriptions of the harmful templates in in your message.
  • Direct communication can expedite the review and removal process.
  • Share the specific template names or links

If the templates are closely tied to trends on platforms like TikTok, consider also reporting the content on TikTok as well.

It is important to remember that online platforms including CapCut and TikTok are constantly evolving their moderation policies.

It is commendable that you are taking the initiative to report harmful content. By providing clear and detailed reports, you can help make online spaces safer for everyone.

Feedback for web version improvement:

Your observation about the absence of a reporting feature on the web version is valuable. User feedback plays a pivotal role in enhancing CapCut's functionality.

We recommend sharing your suggestion directly with CapCut's development team through the support email provided above.

This can help prioritize the implementation of a reporting mechanism on the web platform, ensuring a safer and more user-friendly experience for all.

Thank you for taking the initiative to report and address harmful content. Your efforts contribute significantly to fostering a respectful and inclusive online community.
