Hi! For some reason, there's this thing called manual dermabrision that has been applied to a lot of my clips and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. It prevents me from exporting my video since it's a pro feature. Could I please have some help? Thank you in advance 🙂

Hi,

The "Manual Dermabrasion" effect in CapCut is part of their Beauty filters focused on skin smoothing, and since it's a Pro-only feature, if it’s accidentally applied to your clips, you won’t be able to export unless you remove it or have a Pro subscription.

Here’s how to remove it from your clips:

  1. Select the Affected Clip: Tap on the first clip in your timeline that you suspect has the effect applied. It will be highlighted.
  2. Find the "Retouch" Option: Look at the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. You should see an icon labeled "Retouch" (it might look like a face or a sparkling icon). Tap on it.
  3. Navigate to Face Retouching: Inside the "Retouch" menu, you will see options like "Face," "Body," "Makeup," etc. Tap on "Face."
  4. Go to the "Beautify" or "Beauty" tab (depending on your version, it might be in the right-side panel or under "Edit").
  5. Locate "Manual Dermabrasion" or Similar: Within the "Face" retouching or "Beautify" options, look carefully for sliders or toggles. You're specifically looking for:
    • The exact term "Manual Dermabrasion".
    • Other skin smoothing options like "Smooth," "Skin Texture," etc. Pro features have a small "Pro" label or icon next to them.
  6. Disable or Reset the Effect:
    • If it's a slider (like "Smooth"), drag it back to 0.
    • If it's a toggle or a specific named effect like "Manual Dermabrasion," look for an option to turn it off or reset it. There might be a "None" option or a general reset button within the Face section.
    • Make sure any setting labeled "Pro" under the skin/face smoothing section is turned off or reset to its default (non-active) state.
  7. Check Other Clips: Unfortunately, if it's applied to multiple clips, you'll likely need to repeat this process for each affected clip. Select the next clip on your timeline and go through steps 2-5 again.
  8. Use the Export Prompt: When you try to export, CapCut tells you which clips contain Pro features. Pay close attention to this message – it can help you identify exactly which clips you need to fix.
  9. Check for Templates: If you started your project using a template, the template itself might have applied this Pro feature to certain clips. In that case, you'll still need to manually select those clips and remove the effect as described above.

Key thing to look for: The little "Pro" icon next to the feature name or slider in the Retouch menu. Anything with that icon needs to be deactivated or reset on each clip if you want to export for free.

If you've duplicated a clip or used a template, that setting might be copied over multiple times. You’ll need to check each affected clip individually.

To remove it globally (if applied via a template or filter across all clips):

  • Go to the "Effects" or "Adjustment" section.
  • Check if there's a global filter, effect, or beauty setting that was applied to the whole timeline.
  • If you see Manual Dermabrasion applied as a layer or global effect, delete it from there.

Go through your clips one by one, especially those flagged during the export attempt, check the "Retouch" > "Face" section, and reset any active Pro skin smoothing features. Hopefully, this will clear the block and allow you to export your video.
