Hi,

We understand your issue with CapCut not working. Read our detailed "CapCut not working" guide here before we proceed to the next troubleshooting tips.

Let us try to figure out what might be going wrong. To help us understand the situation better, could you please tell us:

  1. What kind of device are you trying to run CapCut on? (e.g., Windows PC, Mac, Android phone, iPhone, Chromebook)
  2. What exactly happens when you try to run CapCut? (e.g., Does it not open at all? Does it open and then crash? Do you get any error messages? If so, what do they say?)
  3. What is your device's operating system and version? (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS Sonoma, Android 13, iOS 17)
  4. Where did you download CapCut from? (e.g., Official CapCut website, Google Play Store, Apple App Store, Microsoft Store)
  5. Can you recall when the problem started? (e.g., After an update, after installing new software, suddenly)
  6. What media feature pack did you try to install? (This is usually relevant for Windows users)

Once we have this information, we can give you more specific troubleshooting steps.

In the meantime, here are some general things you can try, depending on your device:

For Windows PC:

  • Check the Minimum System Requirements: Make sure your computer meets the minimum specifications to run CapCut. You can usually find these on the official CapCut website. Here you can find a detailed table mentioning the processor speed, RAM, and operating system version requirements.
  • Check for Windows Updates:
    • Ensure your operating system is fully updated, as missing updates can lead to compatibility issues with applications.
  • Run as Administrator: Right-click on the CapCut shortcut and select "Run as administrator." This can sometimes resolve permission issues.
  • Check for Conflicting Software: Sometimes other software can interfere with CapCut. If you've recently installed any new programs, try temporarily disabling them to see if that makes a difference.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated graphics drivers can cause issues with video editing software. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and download the latest drivers.
  • Check Disk Space: Ensure you have enough free space on your hard drive for CapCut to run properly.
  • Perform a Clean Boot: This starts your computer with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, which can help identify if a background program is causing the issue. You can search online for "how to perform a clean boot on Windows" for instructions.
  • Uninstall and Reinstall: Sometimes a fresh installation can fix corrupted files. Make sure to completely uninstall CapCut before reinstalling.
  • Allow CapCut Through Windows Defender Firewall:
    • Navigate to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Defender Firewall > Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.
    • Ensure both Private and Public boxes are checked for CapCut. If CapCut isn't listed, click Allow another app... to add it.
  • Install the Correct Media Feature Pack:
    • Windows 10 "N" editions lack certain media-related technologies required by applications like CapCut. Installing the appropriate Media Feature Pack can address this.
    • To Install:
      • Press Win + I to open Settings.
      • Navigate to Apps > Optional Features > Add a feature.
      • Search for Media Feature Pack, select it, and click Install.
      • Restart your computer after installation.

For a video guide, you might find this tutorial helpful:

For Mac:

  • Check the Minimum System Requirements: Similar to Windows, ensure your Mac meets the necessary specifications.
  • Update macOS: Make sure your macOS is up to date. Go to Apple menu > System Settings (or System Preferences) > General > Software Update.
  • Check for Conflicting Software: As with Windows, try to identify and temporarily disable any recently installed software.
  • Uninstall and Reinstall: Try uninstalling CapCut and then downloading and installing it again from the official source.

For Android Phone/Tablet or iPhone/iPad:

  • Check for Updates: Make sure your CapCut app is updated to the latest version from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Also, ensure your device's operating system is up to date.
  • Clear Cache and Data: Go to your device's settings, find the CapCut app, and look for options to "Clear cache" and "Clear data" (or "Storage"). Note that clearing data might delete any unsaved projects within the app.
  • Restart Your Device: A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches.
  • Uninstall and Reinstall: Try uninstalling the CapCut app and then reinstalling it from the app store.
  • Check Device Storage: Make sure you have enough free storage space on your device.

Install an Older Version of CapCut:

  • Some users have found success by installing a previous version of CapCut and then updating it through the application's dashboard.

Please provide us with the details we asked for above, and we can try to narrow down the problem and find a more tailored solution for you.
