Hello,
I am experiencing an issue with the CapCut application on my computer. When I click on the shortcut or the .exe file in the installation folder, the application does not launch and doesn't even appear in the Task Manager. I have tried reinstalling the application and updating Windows drivers, but it hasn't resolved the issue. Please help

Hi,

It is surprising that CapCut is not launching on your computer despite reinstalling and updating drivers. Let us troubleshoot this issue step-by-step.

Try out the below mentioned solutions one by one and see if any helps:

Basic troubleshooting steps:

  1. Run as Administrator:

    • Right-click on the CapCut shortcut or the CapCut.exe file in the installation folder.
    • Select "Run as administrator".
    • Click "OK" to confirm.
    • Try launching CapCut again. This action grants the program full administrative rights, which can resolve permission-related launch issues.
  2. Restart your computer:

    • Restarting your computer can resolve temporary software glitches by clearing temporary files and closing background processes that might be interfering with CapCut.
    • After restarting, try launching CapCut again.
  3. Reinstall CapCut from a different source:

    • Uninstall CapCut:
      • Press Win + I to open Windows Settings.
      • Go to Apps or Apps & features (depending on your Windows version).
      • In Installed apps (Windows 11) or Apps & features (Windows 10), find CapCut.
      • Click on CapCut, and select Uninstall.
    • Reinstall from a different source:
      • If you initially downloaded CapCut from the official website, try installing it from the Microsoft Store.
      • Conversely, if you installed it from the Microsoft Store, download it from the our official CapCut website. Sometimes, using a different download source can resolve installation related issues.
      • If you have downloaded initially from a third party website remember it can be potentially harmful. Not only does the .exe file does not execute, it can even insert potential virus or trojan onto your computer. So always make sure to download the official version from verified website and do not rely on any cracks or hacks to get the software.
  4. Allow CapCut through Windows Defender Firewall:

    • Open Windows Defender Firewall.
    • Click on Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.
    • Click Change settings.
    • Look for CapCut in the list of allowed apps and features.
    • If you find it, ensure both Private and Public options are checked next to CapCut. If CapCut is not listed, click Allow another app...
    • Click Browse and locate the CapCut.exe file (usually in the CapCut installation folder).
    • Click Open, then Add.
    • Check the Private and Public options next to the newly added CapCut and click OK to save changes.
    • Try launching CapCut again.

Watch the below YouTube tutorial guide for this above step:

  5. Install Media Feature Pack:

    • The Media Feature Pack is essential for certain media functionalities and might be required by CapCut.
    • Go to Settings in Windows.
    • Click on Apps, then Optional features.
    • Click View features.
    • Search for "Media Feature Pack" in the search bar.
    • If Media Feature Pack is available, check the box next to it and click Install.
    • Restart your computer after installation and try launching CapCut.

Watch the below tutorial for installing media feature pack

  6. Install an older version of CapCut:

    • If the latest version is causing issues, an older version might work. You can search for older versions of CapCut online, but ensure you download from a safe and virus-free source. You can try an older version such as 2.0.0 or 2.4.5.
    • While downloading older versions always exercise caution when downloading software from third-party websites.
    • After installing an older version, try to update to the latest version from within the application once it launches.

Advanced troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check system compatibility:

    • Ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for CapCut, which is typically Windows 10 64-bit or later. Older operating systems might not be compatible.
    • If you are using an older version of Windows, consider upgrading to Windows 10 or 11 if possible.
    • Navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click "Check for updates". Installing the latest updates can resolve compatibility issues that might be affecting CapCut.
  2. Insufficient storage space or memory:

    • Check Storage: Ensure you have at least 1 GB of free storage space on your system drive.
    • Check RAM: CapCut requires at least 2 GB of RAM to function properly. Check your system's RAM and close unnecessary applications to free up memory.
  3. Clear CapCut app data or reset the app:

    • For Windows users:
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
      • Find CapCut in the list and click on it.
      • Click Advanced options.
      • Look for the Reset option and click it to reset the app data.
  4. Temporarily disable antivirus software:

    • Sometimes, antivirus software can interfere with application launches.
    • Temporarily disable your antivirus software and try launching CapCut. If it works, configure your antivirus to allow CapCut or exclude it from scanning. Remember to re-enable your antivirus software afterward.
  5. Change display language:

    • Try changing the Windows display language to English (US) temporarily, launching CapCut, and then changing the language back to the original setting. This can sometime help in resolving the issue.
    • Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.
    • Add English (United States) if it's not listed.
    • Set English (United States) as the Windows display language.
    • Log out and log back in, or restart your computer.
    • Launch CapCut.
    • After the first successful launch, you can change the Windows display language back to your preferred setting.

If none of these steps work, it might be helpful to reach out to CapCut support for more specific assistance, as the issue might be unique to your system configuration. They can be reached out at the email ID: [email protected].
