I'm on capcut PC and I'm trying to make the duration of my transition effect longer. I'm using (pull in/ pull out) and it is stuck on 0.1s as it will not let me remedy the duration. I have searched up about it, and it seems others are having trouble too while I see a tutorial of someone on mobile doing the exact thing that I can't - which is making their transition effect longer. is this a bug or something else since it says I can change it, but it is like it is iced and not letting me change it. please give me a solution.
Hi,
This issue with transition duration (especially for "Pull In" / "Pull Out") being stuck at 0.1 seconds on CapCut for PC has been faced by a lot of users. Here is what’s going on and what you can try:
Why You Can’t Change the Duration:
- On CapCut for PC, some transitions like "Pull In" and "Pull Out" are locked to 0.1s, even though the UI suggests they can be changed. This seems to be a limitation or bug in the current PC version of CapCut.
- Meanwhile, on CapCut Mobile, these transitions do allow longer durations like 0.3s or even up to 1s. The inconsistency is causing confusion, especially since tutorials often show the mobile version.
- The most common reason is that the PC version of CapCut, while powerful, sometimes lags behind the mobile version in features or has specific limitations. Certain transitions have fixed durations coded into the PC version, unlike the mobile app where they offer more flexibility.
Things You Can Try (Workarounds)
- Switch to a Different Transition
- Try using a similar effect (like “Zoom” or “Camera” transitions) that does allow duration changes.
- Not all transitions are locked; some give full control over duration.
- Manually Animate Using Keyframes
- If you're comfortable with keyframes:
- Zoom in or out using the scale and position settings over time.
- You can mimic "Pull In" and "Pull Out" and have full control over speed and timing.
- Overlap Clips: Place the end of the first clip and the beginning of the second clip on different tracks, overlapping them for the duration you want the "transition" to last.
- Use Keyframes:
- For a "Pull Out" effect on the first clip: Select the first clip. Go to the "Video" > "Basic" panel. Add a keyframe for
Scale
andPosition
at the beginning of the overlap. Then, go to the end of the overlap (where the clip ends) and add another keyframe, changing theScale
(e.g., making it much smaller or larger) and/orPosition
(moving it off-screen) to create the "pull out" motion. - For a "Pull In" effect on the second clip: Select the second clip. Add a keyframe for
Scale
andPosition
at the start of the overlap with settings that make it appear "pulled in" (e.g., very large scale, or positioned off-screen). Then, go to the end of the overlap and add another keyframe, setting theScale
to 100% and thePosition
to its normal place.
- For a "Pull Out" effect on the first clip: Select the first clip. Go to the "Video" > "Basic" panel. Add a keyframe for
- Adjust Timing: You can precisely control the duration by adjusting the distance between your keyframes on the timeline. You can also adjust the easing between keyframes for smoother motion.
- If you're comfortable with keyframes:
- Create the Transition on Mobile, Export, and Bring It to PC
- Use your iPhone (since you have CapCut Mobile) to apply the transition with the duration you want.
- Export that short clip.
- Import it back into CapCut on your PC.
- Check for CapCut Updates
- Make sure you’re on the latest version of CapCut PC.
- Sometimes transition issues are patched silently in newer builds.
- Use Animations Instead
- Instead of the "Transitions" tab, explore the "Animations" tab (In, Out, Combo). You might find an animation applied to the start of the second clip or the end of the first clip that simulates the effect you want and potentially offers more timing control, although these usually apply to the clip itself rather than blending two clips.
It's most likely a limitation of the CapCut PC version for that specific transition, rather than something you are doing wrong. While you can't force the duration slider to work, using keyframes to manually create the transition effect is the most reliable way to achieve the exact duration and look you want on the PC version.
