Hello CapCut Previous Project not opening. Added same video again but it created completely different shorts and used up my monthly time. It just says 0 shorts have been created for this video when I had opened it severla times before.
Hi,
It appears you're facing two problems:
- Project not opening: Your previous CapCut project is inaccessible.
- "Monthly Time" usage: Re-creating shorts from the same video seems to have used up your "monthly time" and you are seeing a "0 shorts created" message.
Let us address each of these concerns.
Troubleshooting project opening issues
Here are some common reasons why CapCut projects might not open and how to fix them:
- Check if the project still exists: Open CapCut and go to "Projects" (or "My Projects") to see if your previous project is listed. If it is missing, try logging out and back in to refresh your account.
- Restore a previous version: If you are using the desktop version, check if there is an "Auto-Save" or backup option.
- Restart CapCut and your device: Close the CapCut app completely and reopen it. If that doesn't work, restart your phone, tablet, or computer.
- Check your internet connection: A weak or unstable internet connection can sometimes cause issues with loading projects, especially if they are stored in the cloud. Ensure you have a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
- Clear CapCut's cache and data: Over time, cached data can become corrupted and cause the app to malfunction. Clearing the cache and data can resolve this.
- On Android: Go to Settings > Apps > CapCut > Storage. Here you should find options to Clear cache and Clear data. Note that clearing data might remove some of your settings or require you to log in again.
- On iOS: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > CapCut. Tap Offload App. This clears the app cache but keeps your documents and data. You can also choose to Delete App to remove the app and all its data, then reinstall it from the App Store.
- On Windows: Open CapCut and click the Settings button on the home page. Select Settings again, and under the Draft tab, you should find an option to delete the Cache size.
- Update CapCut to the latest version: Outdated app versions can have bugs that prevent projects from opening.
- On Android: Go to the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Manage apps and device. Under Updates available, find CapCut and tap Update if available.
- On iOS: Go to the App Store, tap your profile icon, scroll down to Available Updates, and update CapCut if listed.
- On Windows: Open the Microsoft Store, click the Library icon, then Get updates.
- Reinstall CapCut: If updating doesn't work, try uninstalling and then reinstalling CapCut. This can fix problems caused by corrupted installation files. Make sure to back up any important projects if possible before uninstalling.
- Check device compatibility and storage: Ensure your device meets the minimum system requirements for CapCut. Also, make sure you have enough free storage space on your device, as insufficient space can cause apps to crash or malfunction.
- Large video file: If you are working with a very large video file, it could be causing CapCut to struggle. Try compressing the video file before importing it into CapCut.

Understanding "Monthly Time" and usage
Regarding your concern about "monthly time" and the "0 shorts created" message, it's important to clarify a few points:
- CapCut subscription plans: CapCut offer subscription plans, CapCut Pro, which provide benefits like no watermarks, premium effects, cloud storage, and advanced tools. These plans are billed monthly or yearly.
- No "Monthly Time" limit for short creation: CapCut does not have a concept of "monthly time" that limits the number of shorts you can create, especially in the way you described by re-using the same video. The "0 shorts created" message is more likely a bug or a result of the project loading issue rather than a reflection of a usage limit.
- Cloud storage limits: CapCut's subscription plans include cloud storage. If you are on a paid plan and have exceeded your cloud storage limit, it might affect your ability to save or access projects. However, this is more related to storage space than a "monthly time" limit for creating content.
It is possible that the issue you are experiencing is a bug within the CapCut app, especially if you are seeing an incorrect "0 shorts created" message. Re-creating shorts from the same video should not inherently use up any kind of "monthly time" limit if you are thinking of it as a restriction on the number of videos you can make.
Send us any screenshots or videos if you can and we will suggest you specific troubleshooting plans.
In summary: Focus on troubleshooting the project opening issue using the steps provided above. The "monthly time" concern and "0 shorts created" message are likely related to the project issue or a misunderstanding of CapCut's features, rather than an actual limitation on creating shorts.
