Dear All,

I am a bit confused about your terms and services.  I read that your terms say that the Capcut for desktop is not allowed for commercial purposes however in you FAQs you say youtube monetization is allowed so what do you mean by commercial use?

I want to edit my created content using Capcut with its features, transitions, effects, fonts etc etc and upload them to youtube with the purpose of monetizing my content.  I will not post adds or marketing or product resell etc etc.  I will be editing my gaming videos.

Can you please share with me your feedback about this.  I want to be a regular paying pro Capcut user but without this feedback I can't reliably use your software.

Thank you,
Adam,

Hi,

You can refer to a similar post here where we have posted a detailed guidelines on this issue.

For your information we are summarizing the points here again:

Using CapCut to edit and monetize your gaming videos on YouTube is feasible, but it is essential to understand the licensing terms, especially concerning the use of in-app assets like music, effects, and transitions.

1. CapCut's intended use:

CapCut's Terms of Service indicate that the services are primarily designed for private, non-commercial use.

However, they offer specific services, such as the CapCut ad maker, explicitly for commercial purposes.

2. Use of in-app music and assets:

The CapCut Materials License Agreement specifies that "Commercial Users may show or share their video that includes a Commercial Sound within CapCut, TikTok, and TikTok for Business ('Permitted Platforms')."

This suggests that using CapCut's in-app music for monetized content on platforms outside of these, like YouTube, may require obtaining separate permissions and licenses directly from the rights holders.

3. CapCut for Business:

For users seeking to create commercial content, CapCut offers a "CapCut for Business" plan and a Commerce PRO plan. This plan provides access to commercially licensed business templates and other features suitable for branded content.

However, it is crucial to verify whether this plan's licensing covers monetized content on platforms like YouTube.

Our recommendations:

  • Using external assets: To ensure compliance, consider using music and other assets from external sources that offer clear licenses for commercial use on platforms like YouTube. This approach can help avoid potential copyright issues.

  • Consulting CapCut support: For definitive guidance tailored to your specific use case, it's advisable to contact CapCut's support team directly at [email protected]. They can provide clarity on licensing terms and how they apply to monetized content on platforms beyond the "Permitted Platforms."

By taking these steps, you can confidently use CapCut to edit your gaming videos and monetize them on YouTube while respecting intellectual property rights.
