Issue with CapCut Export - Files Appearing in Recycle Bin

Hello, can you help me? A few hours ago, I updated CapCut to the latest beta version (about 5 hours ago). After updating, I edited a video and exported it to my download folder.

However, after exporting, I noticed some files in my Recycle Bin, even though I didn’t delete anything manually. When I checked, I found a folder named "capcut_export_temp_folder" inside the Recycle Bin, which contained two video files. But these videos wouldn’t play.

It seems like CapCut created this folder on its own. Why was it moved to the Recycle Bin? Is this a virus, a hacker, or some kind of malware? The same folder where I exported my video was also deleted and ended up in the Recycle Bin.

Additionally, inside "capcut_export_temp_folder", there was a file named "a47addb7-1483-4a18-9a4f-89387da3824c.mp4", but the two videos inside wouldn’t play.

Can you please explain why this happened? This Anymalware Viru, My PC Hacked, i am not installed any software cracker , Only video edit and web scroll. Youtube, TikTok.

Hi,

After exporting your video, you noticed a folder named "capcut_export_temp_folder" in your Recycle Bin containing unplayable video files. This folder is a temporary directory that CapCut creates during the export process. Such temporary files should be deleted automatically upon successful export. However, due to a glitch possibly introduced in the recent beta update these files might not be handled correctly, leading them to appear in your Recycle Bin.

Based on the information provided, this behavior doesn't indicate a virus, malware, or hacking activity. It's more likely a software bug related to the recent update. To ensure your system's security, consider running a full system scan using reputable antivirus software.

Generally beta versions can misbehave at times. These are the main reasons:

  • CapCut often creates temporary files during the export process. These files are used for various purposes (encoding, rendering, etc.) and are supposed to be deleted after the export is complete. It seems that in your case, CapCut is failing to properly clean up these temporary files. Instead of deleting them, it's moving them (and the containing folder) to the Recycle Bin.
  • Beta versions of software are released specifically for testing. They often contain bugs and unexpected behavior. This kind of file management issue is a common type of bug in beta software.
  • The fact that the video files inside the temp folder won't play suggests they might be incomplete or corrupted. This could be due to the export process being interrupted or a bug in the beta version's encoding process.

Why It's Probably Not a Virus/Hacker/Malware:

  • The folder name "capcut_export_temp_folder" indicates it's related to CapCut, not some malicious software. Malware typically uses more generic or disguised names.
  • The issue occurred immediately after updating CapCut. You also installed a beta version which means the app might be the source of the problem.
  • You mentioned no other unusual behavior on your computer (slow performance, strange pop-ups, etc.), which would be more typical of a malware infection.

How to proceed:

  • This is almost certainly a software bug, not a security breach.
  • Check export settings:
    • Ensure that CapCut is exporting files to your intended directory. Verify the export path in the settings before initiating the export process.
  • Monitor Disk Space:
    • Insufficient disk space can cause export issues. Ensure you have adequate free space on your drive to accommodate the exported video.
  • Check your Downloads folder (or wherever you specified the export location). The actual exported video file should be there, even if the temporary files are in the Recycle Bin. The file name might be slightly different than what you expect.
  • Once you've located your exported video, you can safely empty the Recycle Bin to remove the temporary files.
  • If the bug is seriously affecting your workflow, see if you can revert to a previous (non-beta) version of CapCut. You can download the latest non beta version of CapCut for PC.
  • Although very unlikely, it's never a bad idea to run a full scan with your antivirus software to double-check.

Recovering your exported video:

If the exported video isn't appearing in your designated folder, try the following:

  • Search recent files:

    • Navigate to your system's "Recent Files" section to locate the exported video.
  • Check default save locations:

    • Sometimes, exported files might be saved in default directories. Check folders like "Documents," "Videos," or "Downloads."
  • Use file recovery tools:

Further steps to consider:

  • Regularly back up your projects and exported videos to an external drive or cloud storage to prevent data loss.
  • Beta versions can contain bugs. For essential projects, it is advisable to use the stable release of the software.

Regarding the "a47addb7-1483-4a18-9a4f-89387da3824c.mp4" file: This file name looks like a randomly generated UUID (Universally Unique Identifier). These are often used for temporary files or internal processes. It's probably just a part of CapCut's internal workings.

This is almost certainly looks like a bug with the latest CapCut beta version, not a sign of malware.

Report the issue to CapCut's support team at [email protected]. They should be able to fix the bug in the next stable release.
