After the automatic CapCut update through Apple App Store, all the "MARKER" functions have disappeared.  This critical tool, which I've used for several years, no longer has the M shortcut and is not even listed in any of the shortcut menus!  There is not even an icon on the toolbar.  I've reached out 3 times to the in-app 'tech support' and they promise a solution all 3 times I've sent screenshots, videos and explicit explanations of how this happened right after the update about the beginning of August 2024.

If anyone knows how or why, or can suggest a fix, I would be extremely grateful, since I've tried every other option and failed every time.  This is a fully paid subscription through Apple, so it's not a matter of willful disablement...

Please, any response is helpful❤️ Kind Regards, Kris

Hi,

It is surprising to lose such a vital tool after an update, especially when you're paying for a subscription and rely on it for your work.

Here are some potential reasons why this might have happened and some additional troubleshooting steps you could try, even though you've already done a lot:

Possible Reasons for the Disappearance:

  • Bug in the Update: This is the most likely scenario, especially since it happened immediately after the update. CapCut updates can sometimes introduce unintended bugs that affect specific features.
  • Feature Removal or Replacement: While it seems unlikely for such a fundamental feature to be removed without any announcement, CapCut could have decided to replace the marker function with a different tool or integrate its functionality elsewhere. However, the fact that it's not even listed in menus or shortcuts makes this less probable.
  • Platform-Specific Issue: The bug might be specific to the iOS version of CapCut on Apple devices.
  • Account-Specific Glitch: It's very unlikely that a feature would be disabled on a per-account basis for paid subscribers.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps (Beyond What You have Tried):

  1. Check for Further Updates: Even though the issue started with the August update, CapCut has released subsequent updates to fix bugs. The latest version as on April 06, 2025 is 5.9.1. Go back to the Apple App Store and see if there's a newer version of CapCut available. Install it from there.
  2. Reset Preferences: CapCut might have reset its preferences during the update. Explore the app's settings to see if there's an option to restore default preferences or toolbars.
  3. Completely Uninstall and Reinstall CapCut: Sometimes, an update can have installation issues. Try completely uninstalling the CapCut app from your Apple device and then reinstalling it from the App Store. This can sometimes resolve corrupted files or incomplete installations.
  4. Try Using CapCut on a Different Device if possible: If you have access to another Apple device (like an iPad) or even an Android device, try installing CapCut there and see if the marker function is available. This could help determine if the issue is specific to your particular device or a broader problem with the iOS version.
  5. Review Apple App Store Reviews for CapCut: Check the recent reviews for CapCut on the Apple App Store. Other users might be mentioning the same issue in their reviews, which could provide more context or confirm it's a widespread bug.
  6. Check for email support: Write an email to [email protected]. Politely but firmly reiterate the issue and the lack of resolution. Reference your previous tickets and the dates you contacted them. Sometimes, persistence can help escalate the issue to someone who can provide a more concrete solution.

What to Include in Future Support Communications:

  • Specific CapCut Version Number: When you contact support again, make sure to mention the exact version number of CapCut you are currently using. This helps them identify if you are on the latest build. You can usually find this information in the app's settings or "About" section.
  • Detailed Steps to Reproduce the Missing Feature: Even though it's missing, clearly explain how you used to access the marker function (e.g., "I used the 'M' shortcut while the timeline was selected," or "There used to be a marker icon on the toolbar above the timeline").
  • Confirmation of Paid Subscription: Remind them that you have a paid subscription through Apple, reinforcing that it's not a free version limitation.

It's truly surprising that such a critical feature has disappeared, especially after a paid update. We sincerely hope that either one of these suggestions helps you find a solution. Good luck, and we hope you get your marker function back! ❤️
