I was applying some keyframes when I noticed the position and size function was missing in the Video Basic screen. It has Transform instead of Position and Size. Does anyone know how to reset the Video portion to get the Position and Size back?
Thanks
Jon
Hi,
We believe you are experiencing an issue in CapCut where the "Position and Size" function is missing from the Video Basic screen, replaced by "Transform." Let us work through this together to restore the "Position and Size" functionality.
Possible causes and solutions:
-
Interface layout reset:
- It is possible that the interface layout has changed, causing certain functions to appear differently.
- Solution: Reset the layout to its default settings. This can often resolve display issues. To do this, go to the "View" menu and select "Reset Layout." This action should revert any changes and restore missing functions.
-
Software update or version change:
- CapCut may have updated its interface in the latest version, renaming "Position and Size" to "Transform."
- Solution: Check if you are using the latest version of CapCut. If not, consider updating to see if this resolves the issue. If the problem persists, you might need to reinstall the software.
-
Keyframe functionality:
- The keyframe feature might have been relocated or altered in the interface.
- Solution: Ensure that the keyframe option is enabled and visible. Look for a diamond-shaped icon next to adjustment settings like scale, position, or rotation. If it's not visible, try adding a keyframe by clicking on the timeline where you want the effect to begin. This action might reveal the missing functions.
-
"Transform" is the new, Combined Control: "Transform" is almost certainly the feature you want. It is designed to be a more comprehensive tool that includes not just position and size, but also likely rotation, skew, and potentially other spatial adjustments.
-
Look within the "Transform" section: When you select a video clip and go to the "Video Basic" screen, and you see "Transform," tap on or expand the "Transform" option. You should find the familiar controls for:
- Position (X and Y coordinates): To move the video horizontally and vertically.
- Size (Scale or width/height): To make the video larger or smaller.
- Rotation: To rotate the video.
- Skew/perspective: To distort the video's shape.
These position and size controls are nested within the "Transform" section now, rather than being listed separately as "Position and Size" at the top level.
-
How to Use "Transform" for Keyframes: The process for applying keyframes for position and size should be very similar, even with the "Transform" label:
- Select your video clip.
- Go to the "Video Basic" settings and find the "Transform" section.
- Locate the Position and Size controls within "Transform".
- Set your first keyframe: At the starting point of your desired animation, adjust the Position and/or Size values in the "Transform" section to your starting point. Tap the keyframe icon (a diamond shape) next to the Position and Size properties you want to animate.
- Move to a new point in time: Advance the playhead in your timeline to where you want the animation to change.
- Adjust Position and/or Size again: Change the Position and/or Size values in the "Transform" section to your new desired position and size. CapCut will automatically create a new keyframe at this point.
- Continue adding keyframes: Repeat the process of moving the playhead and adjusting "Transform" properties to create your animation.
