I've been unable to use CapCut on my tablet since the 11.4.0 update was released in the google play store a few days ago. I keep getting an error message that reads "Security Notice: The current version of the app is not secure. Download the latest version in official app stores.". The link provided with the error message does not appear to be legit. I have uninstalled CapCut and reinstalled many times, ensuring that I am installing the latest 11.4.0 version from the google play store yet this error message keeps coming back. Any suggestions? TIA!
CapCut has released the latest version 11.5.0 with bug fixes and performance improvements. Would recommend to download the same from the Play Store and see if that fixes your issue.

Hi,
That "Security Notice" error message in CapCut is very surprising, especially since it is directing you to a link that doesn't seem legitimate. It is good that you are cautious about that link. Let us try to figure out why this is happening and how to resolve it.
Since you have already reinstalled CapCut multiple times from the Google Play Store and are still getting the error with version 11.4.0, it suggests the issue might not be with your installation process itself, but rather something else.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
Troubleshooting steps for the "Security Notice" error
-
Double-check app source and version (again):
- Go to the Google Play Store app on your tablet.
- Search for "CapCut" and go to the official CapCut app page.
- Confirm it says "Installed" (since you have reinstalled).
- Scroll down to the "About this app" section on the Play Store page.
- Look for "Version" and make absolutely sure it is indeed 11.4.0. Sometimes, app stores can take a bit to fully update across all regions, but if it says 11.4.0 there, you are likely on the correct version from the official source.
-
Clear CapCut's cache and data: Sometimes, residual data from previous installations or updates can cause conflicts. Clearing the cache and data can help:
- Go to your tablet's Settings app.
- Navigate to Apps or Applications (the exact wording might vary slightly depending on your tablet's Android version).
- Find CapCut in the list of installed apps.
- Tap on CapCut.
- Go to Storage or Storage & cache.
- Tap on Clear Cache.
- Then, tap on Clear Storage or Clear Data (Note: Clearing storage/data might reset your app settings and any offline downloaded content within CapCut, but it won't affect your projects if they are backed up or stored separately).
- After clearing cache and data, restart your tablet completely (power it off and then back on).
- Open CapCut again and see if the error message is gone.
-
Restart your tablet: A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches or software conflicts. If you haven't already, completely restart your tablet after reinstalling and clearing cache/data.
-
Disable background data usage:
Restricting background data can prevent the app from accessing potentially conflicting information.
- Steps:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Apps or Application Manager.
- Choose CapCut.
- Tap on Mobile Data & Wi-Fi.
- Disable Allow Background Data Usage.
This action can help in minimizing any unwanted data processes that might trigger the security notice.
- Steps:
-
Check for tablet system updates: Make sure your tablet's Android operating system is fully up to date. Sometimes, app updates rely on the latest system components.
- Go to your tablet's Settings app.
- Look for System, System Update, or Software Update (again, wording varies).
- Check for and install any available system updates.
- Restart your tablet after updating.
-
Disable battery optimization for CapCut:
Battery optimization settings can sometimes interfere with app performance.
- Steps:
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select Battery.
- Tap on Battery Optimization.
- Find CapCut in the list.
- Choose Don't Optimize or Not Optimized.
This ensures that the app runs without restrictions that could cause errors.
- Steps:
-
Boot your tablet in safe mode (to check for app conflicts): Safe mode starts your Android tablet with only essential system apps and services running. This helps determine if another app you've installed is interfering with CapCut.
- The process for booting into Safe Mode varies slightly by tablet model. Generally, it involves:
- Powering off your tablet.
- Pressing and holding the power button to turn it back on.
- As soon as you see your tablet manufacturer's logo, press and hold the volume down button (sometimes it's volume up, or both - you might need to search online for the specific safe mode steps for your tablet model if volume down doesn't work).
- Keep holding the volume button until your tablet fully boots up. You should see "Safe mode" displayed in a corner of the screen (usually the bottom left).
- Once in Safe Mode, open CapCut and see if the error message appears.
- If CapCut works correctly in Safe Mode: This suggests that another app you have installed is likely conflicting with CapCut. You would need to think about recently installed apps and try uninstalling them one by one to see if it resolves the issue in normal mode.
- If the error still appears in safe mode: This points more towards a potential issue with CapCut itself, or a deeper system problem.
- The process for booting into Safe Mode varies slightly by tablet model. Generally, it involves:
-
Verify app integrity:
Ensure that the CapCut version installed is legitimate and hasn't been tampered with.
- Steps:
- Uninstall CapCut from your device.
- Reinstall it directly from the Google Play Store.
This guarantees that you're using the official version, reducing the risk of security warnings.
- Steps:
-
Revert to a previous version:
If the latest update is causing issues, reverting to an earlier version might help.
- Steps:
- Uninstall the current CapCut version.
- Download a previous version's APK from here.
- Install the APK on your device.
Be cautious when installing apps from third-party sources to avoid security risks.
- Steps:
-
Use a VPN:
If CapCut is restricted or banned in your region, using a VPN can help bypass these limitations.
- Steps:
- Install a reputable VPN app from the Google Play Store.
- Connect to a country where CapCut is accessible.
- Launch CapCut and see if the issue persists.
This method can help if regional restrictions are causing the security notice.
- Steps:
-
Since you are getting this error even after reinstalling from the official Play Store, it is important to let CapCut technical team know about this.
- CapCut in-app feedback: If you can even get into CapCut enough to navigate, look for "Feedback," section within the app's settings or profile.
- Email Support: The CapCut support email is [email protected]. You can email them directly describing the "Security Notice" error, the version you are using (11.4.0 from Google Play), and the troubleshooting steps you've already tried.
-
Google Play Store Cache & Data (Less Likely, but worth a try if nothing else works): In rare cases, issues with the Google Play Store app itself can cause strange behavior. You could try clearing the Google Play Store app's cache and data as well (similar steps to clearing CapCut's cache/data in Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Storage > Clear Cache/Clear Data). Then restart your tablet and try opening CapCut again.
Important security reminder:
- Do NOT click on any links provided in the error message if they seem suspicious or don't direct you to the official Google Play Store or CapCut website. It is always best to manually go to the Google Play Store app yourself to check for updates or reinstall apps.
