Hi all - I'm working on making a highlight video for my kid for college coaches. For some reason I cannot work out how fit the the sizing/ratio to full screen. The white box is showing a small portion of the video, when i try to highlight her, etc. using mask, it zooms within that smaller white box. Been tinkering for hours with it. Can anyone help?

If your kid’s highlight video isn’t filling the screen, here’s how to fix it:
The “white box” you see is the preview window, which may not match your video’s aspect ratio. CapCut crops your video to fit this window, making it seem zoomed in or incorrectly framed.
Possible Solutions which you can try:
Set the Correct Project Aspect Ratio
- Start a New Project (or adjust an existing one).
- Look for "Aspect Ratio," "Ratio," or "Canvas" (usually an icon resembling a rectangle).
- Choose the correct ratio:
- 16:9 – Best for widescreen (college recruiting videos, YouTube).
- 9:16 – Ideal for vertical content (TikTok, Instagram Reels).
- 1:1 – Square format (Instagram posts).
- If unsure, 16:9 is a good default for highlight reels.
Use Fit/Fill Options to Adjust the Video
- Fit – Keeps the full video visible but may add black bars.
- Fill/Crop – Expands the video to fill the screen, cropping parts of it if necessary (best for a full-screen effect).
- Use "Pan & Zoom" or "Ken Burns" effects for smooth cropping adjustments.
Manual Scaling & Positioning
- If "Fill" crops too much, manually adjust:
- Select the video clip.
- Use scaling & positioning controls to resize and reposition it for the best framing.
Using Masking & Keyframes for Highlighting
- Once the correct aspect ratio is set, masks will work on the full-screen image.
- Use keyframes to animate masks and highlight key moments in the video.
Example: Fixing a 4:3 Video for a 16:9 Screen
- Start a new project and select 16:9.
- Import your 4:3 video.
- Select the video clip and choose “Fill” or “Crop” to scale it.
- Adjust the scaling & positioning if needed to balance visibility.
Troubleshooting
- Check the source video – Ensure it's not already cropped.
- Reset if needed – If adjustments get messy, start a new project with the correct aspect ratio.
By following these steps, your highlight video will properly fill the screen for a professional look!
