Hi,

Let us troubleshoot this step-by-step to get it working or properly uninstalled. Here is a breakdown of things to try:

Restart Your Computer:

  •  This might seem simple, but restarting your computer can often resolve temporary glitches that might be preventing CapCut from running or being uninstalled. After restarting, try to open CapCut again and see if the icon appears and if it launches. Also try to uninstall it again.

Run as Administrator:

  • For Opening CapCut:
  • Search for "CapCut" in the Windows search bar (usually in the bottom left corner).
  • Right-click on the CapCut app in the search results.
  • Select "Run as administrator".
  • See if CapCut opens this way.
  • For Uninstalling CapCut:
  • Search for "Control Panel" in the Windows search bar and open it.
  • Click on "Uninstall a program" under "Programs".
  • Find "CapCut" in the list of installed programs.
  • Right-click on "CapCut" and select "Uninstall".
  • If you get an error message again, try right-clicking on the uninstaller and selecting "Run as administrator".

Check File Permissions:

  • Right-click on the CapCut shortcut or executable file.
  • Select "Properties" and navigate to the "Security" tab.
  • Ensure that your user account has the necessary permissions to access the file. If not, adjust the permissions accordingly.

Verify File Location:

  • Confirm that the CapCut executable hasn't been moved or deleted. If the shortcut points to a non-existent location, it can cause this error.

Unblock the Application:

  • Sometimes, Windows may block applications downloaded from the internet.
  • Right-click on the CapCut installer or executable file, select "Properties," and if you see an "Unblock" button or checkbox, select it and then click "OK."

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Starting Windows in Safe Mode can help bypass certain software conflicts.
  • Restart your computer and press "F8" (or the appropriate key for your system) before Windows loads to access Safe Mode.
  • Once in Safe Mode, try uninstalling CapCut.

Check Antivirus and Firewall:

  • Sometimes, overly aggressive antivirus or firewall software can block applications from running or being uninstalled, especially if they are newly installed or not widely recognized yet.
  • Temporarily Disable Antivirus: Temporarily disable your antivirus software and try to open or uninstall CapCut again. Important: Only disable your antivirus temporarily for testing, and re-enable it immediately afterward to protect your computer.
  • Check Firewall Settings: See if your Windows Firewall or any third-party firewall might be blocking CapCut. You might need to create an exception for CapCut in your firewall settings.

Reinstall CapCut (If you can uninstall it):

  •  If you manage to uninstall CapCut using the steps above, try downloading a fresh installer from the official CapCut website and reinstalling it. Make sure you download it from a legitimate source to avoid any security risks.

Use the Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter:

Use the Control Panel for Uninstallation:

  • Press "Windows + R," type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter to open the Programs and Features window.
  • Locate "CapCut" in the list, select it, and click "Uninstall."

Check for Corrupted System Files:

  • Sometimes, corrupted system files can cause application issues. You can use the System File Checker tool in Windows to scan for and repair corrupted system files.
  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator: Search for "cmd" in the Windows search bar, right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator".
  • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
  • Let the scan complete and follow any instructions provided.

Manual Uninstall (Use with Caution):

  • Warning: Manually uninstalling programs can be risky if not done correctly. Be very careful and only proceed if other methods fail and you are comfortable with these steps. Incorrectly deleting files can cause system instability.
  • Delete CapCut Folders:
  • Open File Explorer and go to "C:\Program Files" and "C:\Program Files (x86)" and delete any folder named "CapCut" or related to CapCut.
  • Also, check "C:\ProgramData" and "C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local" and "C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming" for any CapCut folders and delete them. (Note: "AppData" is a hidden folder, you may need to enable "Hidden items" in the "View" tab of File Explorer to see it).
  • Remove Registry Entries (Advanced Users Only):
  • Type regedit in the Windows search bar and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Backup your Registry: Before making any changes, go to "File" > "Export" and save a backup of your registry in case something goes wrong.
  • Navigate to these registry keys and delete any entries related to "CapCut":
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CapCut
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CapCut
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\CapCut
  • Be extremely careful when editing the registry. Deleting the wrong entries can cause serious system problems.

Utilize Third-Party Uninstaller Tools:

  • If standard uninstallation methods fail, consider using third-party uninstaller tools like Revo Uninstaller to remove CapCut and its residual files.

After trying these steps, hopefully, you will be able to either open CapCut or completely uninstall it so you can try reinstalling it cleanly.
