Unable to Upload Templates to CapCut from Desktop? Here’s Why and How to Work Around It

Why Direct Uploads Might Not Be Possible

  1. CapCut is primarily designed for mobile use and more developmental work has gone into making the mobile app. Therefore, while a desktop version exists, it does not have all the features of the mobile app.
2. The ability to create and share templates is tailored mainly for mobile users only currently. However, future desktop versions may support template sharing options.

Workarounds and Alternatives

Open CapCut on the website

  • Although CapCut PC application downloaded from the Microsoft store does not support upload template options, the website version supports the same. Therefore, just visit capcut.com and start editing directly from your browser window which has the "Templates" option. This is the easiest workaround.

Use the CapCut Mobile App for Templates

  • Join the CapCut Creator Program: If eligible, join the program for expanded features.
  • Create and Share Templates: Use the mobile app’s "Share as Template" feature to distribute your templates.

Desktop Workaround: "Templating" your existing Projects

  • Save Project Files: Save your project after applying desired effects and styles.
  • Reuse Projects: Open saved projects for new videos, replacing media as needed.
  • Adjust and Export: Make any final tweaks and export your video.

Utilize Third-Party Tools for temporary editing

  • Pre-Edit Videos: Use software like Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve for advanced editing.
  • Export and Import: Export from third-party software and import into CapCut for final adjustments.

Watch the below tutorial on how to use CapCut Templates option on your PC workaround:

While direct template uploads from the desktop is currently not available, these workarounds can help you achieve similar results.
