Today, I edited a video using free templates. However, upon exporting, I was notified that I used a pro feature and needed to make a payment as shown in the image. Despite not using any pro templates, fonts, or elements as indicated, the template I utilized did not have a ‘Pro’ mark. Why is this happening?
Hi,
You should not be seeing unexpected payment prompts when exporting your video, especially after using a template that wasn't marked as 'Pro'. This issue can be cause if free templates inadvertently include Pro features, leading to payment requests upon export.
What are the reasons this might happen?
-
Hidden Pro features: Some templates, even without a 'Pro' label, may contain elements or effects exclusive to Pro users. These features might not be immediately apparent during editing but trigger payment prompts during export.
-
Export settings: Choosing higher resolution or specific export settings can sometimes require a Pro subscription, even if the editing process utilized free features.
- CapCut may have recently changed which features are considered free and which are Pro. Features that were once free in templates might now trigger the Pro prompt.
- It's also possible that this is a temporary glitch within the CapCut app, causing it to misidentify features or incorrectly apply Pro restrictions.
How to try and resolve this issue?
-
Review template components:
- Before starting your project, examine the template for any Pro-exclusive elements. Replace or remove these components to avoid payment prompts.
- Get yourself familiarized with what features are PRO and what are not. Usually PRO features are labelled explicitly as being "Pro" within the app or you will see a diamond or crown shown on top of the logos.
- Even subtle effects applied by the template could be Pro. Look for any "Pro" labels on effects.
- Check any stickers or graphic elements that came with the template.
- Less likely with templates, but check if any music or sound effects are flagged as Pro.
- See if any color adjustments or filters applied by the template are considered Pro features.
-
Adjust export settings:
- Opt for standard resolution and settings that are available to free users. Higher resolutions or advanced settings might necessitate a Pro subscription.
- As a test, try exporting your video at a lower resolution (like 1080p instead of 4K, if you are using a high resolution). Sometimes, Pro features are tied to higher export resolutions. If it exports at a lower resolution without the prompt, this might indicate the Pro feature is related to export settings. (Note: This is just a test and potential workaround, not a solution if you need 8K or 4K).
-
Seek alternative templates:
- Explore CapCut's library for templates explicitly labeled as free. This can help ensure all features remain accessible without additional costs.
- To see if the issue is specific to the template you chose, try creating a very short test video using a completely different clearly marked "free" template. Add a small clip and try to export. If this exports without the Pro prompt, the issue is likely with the original template you selected.
