Is there anyway to auto delete/clip every X amount of time from a video?

Hi,

Currently, CapCut does not offer a built-in feature to automatically delete or clip segments from a video at regular intervals like every X seconds. However, you can manually achieve this effect by following these steps:

  1. Import your video:

    • Open CapCut and create a new project.
    • Import the video you wish to edit into the timeline.
  2. Split the video into segments:

    • Move the playhead to the point where you want to make a cut.
    • Select the video clip in the timeline.
    • Click the "Split" button (scissors icon) to divide the video at that point.
    • Repeat this process at regular intervals (e.g., every 5 seconds) to create multiple segments.
  3. Delete unwanted segments:

    • Click on the segment you wish to remove to select it.
    • Press the "Delete" key on your keyboard or right-click and choose "Delete" from the context menu.
    • Repeat this for every other segment if you want to remove, for example, every second segment.
  4. Adjust remaining clips:

    • After deleting the unwanted segments, you may need to close the gaps:
      • Click and drag the remaining clips to align them sequentially.
      • Ensure that the transitions between clips are smooth.

For a video demonstration of splitting and deleting clips in CapCut, you might find this tutorial helpful:

Other solutions to consider:

  • CapCut has a "Split Scene" feature that automatically detects scene changes in your video and splits them into separate clips. While this doesn't work for specific time intervals, it can be helpful if your video has distinct sections that you want to keep or discard. You can then manually delete the unwanted scenes.
  • If your goal is to create a fast-paced montage or a visual effect where parts of the video are skipped, you can use speed ramping. Speed ramping allows you to speed up or slow down different parts of your video. You can combine this with manual splitting to create a more dynamic effect where some sections are played at normal speed and others are skipped.
  • If you are comfortable with scripting or programming, you might be able to find or create scripts that can automate video editing tasks, including trimming at specific intervals.
  • Manual splitting might not be perfectly accurate in terms of time intervals, but it's often sufficient for most purposes. If you have a long video and need to make many cuts, manual splitting can be quite time-consuming.

Consider why you want to delete or clip every X amount of time. Is it for a specific visual effect, to shorten the video, or for some other reason? This will help you choose the best approach from the above.

If none of the above solutions are working then final option is to use a third party video editing tool. Certain tools offer AI driven automated trimming solution. You can work on those software and re-import it back into CapCut.

Please note that using third-party tools may require exporting your video from CapCut and importing it into the other software, which could affect the quality or formatting of your video. Always ensure to back up your original files before proceeding with such operations.
