Capcut is exporting only half of the video I just completed.  The complete video is 2 minutes 12 seconds.  But the "video" exported to my laptop cuts off at 1 minute 2 seconds.

Hi,

If CapCut is exporting only a portion of your video. This problem can come from various factors, including unintentional selection of a specific export range, insufficient storage space, or software glitches.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue:

1. Check export range selection:

  • Verify timeline selection:

    • Open your project in CapCut.
    • Ensure that no specific portion of the timeline is highlighted or selected inadvertently.
    • If a segment is selected, right-click on it and choose "Unselect Area" to clear any selections.
    • Make sure you haven't accidentally set a specific range or duration for the export. Ensure the entire timeline is available for export.
  • Set full export range:

    • Manually set the export range to encompass the entire video.
    • Drag the start and end points to cover the full length of your project.
    • Make sure your timeline cursor (the playhead) is at the very beginning of your video before you start the export. Sometimes, if the cursor is positioned midway, it might only export from that point onward.

This is the most recommended approach and has been effective for users facing similar issues.

2. Identify the underlying problem:

  • Different video: Try exporting a very short and simple video project in CapCut (just a few seconds). Does it export correctly? If the short video exports fine, the problem is likely with your original project.
  • Different export settings: Experiment with different export settings (resolution, bitrate, format). Sometimes, a specific combination of settings can cause issues. Try exporting with the default settings to see if that works.
  • Different export location: Export the video to a completely different folder on your laptop. This will help determine if the issue is related to the export folder itself (permissions, storage space, etc.).

3. Ensure sufficient storage space:

  • Check available storage:

    • Confirm that your device has adequate free space to accommodate the exported video file.
    • Insufficient storage can lead to incomplete exports.
  • Free up space:

    • Delete unnecessary files or transfer them to external storage to free up space.
    • Sometimes CapCut stores the videos on the cloud and free users get 5GB storage space.
    • Make sure the end project is being saved on the local machine and not on the cloud. If it is getting saved on cloud, the limited storage space on cloud might be denying full video from getting exporting.

4. Project-Specific Troubleshooting:

  • Check for cuts/splits: Carefully review your timeline in CapCut. Are there any accidental cuts or splits in your video that might be causing the export to stop prematurely? Sometimes, a tiny split or a misplaced edit point can cause problems.
  • Effects/transitions: If you've used a lot of effects, transitions, or complex edits, try temporarily disabling some of them to see if they're causing the issue. Sometimes, a specific effect or transition can interfere with the export process.
  • Media files: Check if all the media files you've used in your project are still accessible and not corrupted. If a source file is missing or damaged, it could stop the export.
  • Nested Timelines/Compositions: If you've used nested timelines or compositions, try simplifying your project by flattening or merging them before exporting.

5. Clear CapCut cache:

  • On PC:

    • Close your project and return to the CapCut homepage.
    • Click on the "Settings" icon.
    • Navigate to the "Cache" section and select "Clear Cache."
  • On Mobile Devices:

    • Access your device's settings.
    • Navigate to "Apps" > "CapCut" > "Storage."
    • Tap on "Clear Cache."

6. Update CapCut application:

  • Check for Updates:
  • Reinstall CapCut: If other steps don't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling CapCut. This can fix corrupted files or settings.

Keeping the app updated can prevent and resolve many issues.

5. Adjust Export Settings:

  • Modify Resolution and Frame Rate:
    • High-resolution exports can sometimes cause issues.
    • Try lowering the resolution (e.g., from 4K to 1080p) and reducing the frame rate (e.g., from 60fps to 30fps) to see if the export completes successfully.

Adjusting these settings can alleviate strain on your device during export.

6. Disable Hardware Encoding (PC Users):

  • Turn Off Hardware Encoding:
    • From the CapCut homepage, click on "Settings."
    • Navigate to the "Performance" tab.
    • Uncheck the "Speed up hardware encoding" option.
    • Save the changes and attempt to export your video again.

Disabling hardware encoding can resolve export issues related to hardware compatibility.

7. Restart the application and device:

  • Close CapCut and restart your device.
  • Reopen CapCut and attempt the export process again.

A fresh start can clear temporary glitches and buffer files affecting the export process.

Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can sometimes cause video export issues. Go to the website of your graphics card manufacturer (Nvidia, AMD, or Intel) and download the latest drivers.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, consider reaching out to CapCut's customer support at [email protected] for further assistance. Provide the support team with as much detail as possible about your project and the issue you're experiencing.
