Hello, I've updated my CapCut this morning and since then, whenever I export a video from capcut, it appears in my desired folder on my mac computer but after a few seconds it disappears/vanishes. Do anyone know why this might be happening?

Hi,

It is quite unusual for files to automatically disappear. May be this has something to do with the recent update which you did. We recommend trying the below steps one by one:

Verify export location:

  • Check default save folder: Sometimes, exported files might be saved in unexpected locations. After exporting, immediately check CapCut's export settings to confirm the default save path.
  • Use finder's recent items: Open Finder and navigate to "Recents" to see if your video appears there. This can help locate where the file was saved.
  • Check the recycle bin/trash: Just to be absolutely sure, double-check your Mac's Trash to see if the files are being moved there automatically.
  • Different export location: Try exporting to a completely different folder on your Mac (e.g., your Desktop, Documents folder, or even an external drive). This will help determine if the issue is specific to the original export folder.
  • File permissions: Check the permissions of the folder where you're trying to export. Make sure your user account has read and write access to that folder. You can do this by right-clicking the folder, selecting "Get Info," and looking at the "Sharing & Permissions" section.

Check System Settings:

  • Ensure sufficient disk space: Lack of storage space can cause export issues. Verify that your Mac has adequate free space for the exported video.
  • macOS updates: Make sure your macOS is up to date. Sometimes, operating system updates can introduce or fix compatibility issues.
  • Antivirus interference: Your antivirus or other security software might be interfering with the export process. Temporarily disable your antivirus software to see if that resolves the issue. If it does, you'll need to configure your security software to allow CapCut to export files.
  • Virus check: Do a scan of your system to see if there is any virus or malware which is automatically deleting files.
  • File syncing services (iCloud, Dropbox, etc.): If the export folder is synced with a cloud service like iCloud or Dropbox, the syncing process might be causing the files to disappear. Try pausing syncing temporarily to see if that's the problem.

Other issues:

  • Disk issues: There is possibility of a problem with your hard drive. Try running Disk Utility (search for it in Spotlight) to check your disk for errors.
  • Scripts: Do you have any Automator actions or scripts running that might be automatically deleting or moving files in that folder?
  • Other apps: Are there any other applications running that might be interacting with the folder or the exported files? Try closing all the background applications and just use CapCut to see if it resolves.

CapCut specific settings:

  • Uninstall CapCut from your Mac, restart your computer, and then reinstall the latest version from the app store. This can resolve issues stemming from corrupted files.
  • Different Video: Try exporting a very simple video project in CapCut (just a few seconds long). Does the same issue occur? This will help determine if it's a problem with your specific project or a general CapCut issue.
  • Export settings: Check your export settings in CapCut. Are there any unusual options selected? Try exporting with the default settings to see if that makes a difference.
  • CapCut cache/preferences: Try clearing cache of CapCut application. This can sometimes fix corrupted settings.

If none of the above tricks work out then write an email to [email protected] and provide the details and screenshots of what you have tried.
