I am using CapCut for Windows 10. When exporting a video file the file is very huge, increased couple of times. For example: Today I have exported mp4 file which was 1384 MB (1,4GB). The file was 1080p, mp4 and lasted about 60 minutes. I cut off the beginning and the end of the video. Nothing was added. The file was exporting for over an hour. The output resolution was the same, bitrate recommended, mp4, codec H.264, color space SDR - Rec.709, frame rate 30 fps. this is not the exception.

All videos are very huge and exporting them lasts ages. The output file was 2,3 GB. I haven't done any editing, nothing. Just cutting off few minutes at the beginning and few minutes at the end. I haven't change resolution of the video. The same issues I have when creating small files with 9:16 resolution (here I change resolution). Some files can be like 600 MB and they las 5 minutes. By this issue I cannot upload files to my channel which accepts files up to 2GB.

Hi,

It seems you are experiencing issues with large file sizes and lengthy export times in CapCut for Windows 10. This becomes a common issue especially when dealing with longer videos.

The main causes include high-bitrate original videos, CapCut's tendency to preserve quality, unoptimized export settings, and variable bitrate (VBR) encoding. To reduce file size, adjust export settings, use constant bitrate (CBR), and check audio encoding options.

Please try out below steps to help manage and reduce your exported video file sizes:

1. Adjust export settings in CapCut:

  • Resolution: Since your original video is 1080p, maintaining this resolution is appropriate. However, if slightly reducing the resolution is acceptable for your project, exporting at 720p can significantly decrease file size.

  • Bitrate: The bitrate greatly influences file size and quality. CapCut offers options like "High Quality," "Recommended," and "Fast Export." Choosing "Recommended" balances quality and file size. For more control, select a custom bitrate; lowering it can reduce file size, but be cautious not to compromise quality.

  • Codec: Using the H.264 codec is standard and provides a good balance between quality and compression. However, if available, the H.265 (HEVC) codec offers better compression rates, resulting in smaller file sizes without significant quality loss. Ensure your playback devices support H.265 before using it.

2. Trim unnecessary portions of the video

Even though you've only cut the beginning and end of your video, review the entire footage to ensure there are no additional segments that can be trimmed. Reducing the video's duration, even slightly, can help decrease the file size.

3. Use external compression tools:

After exporting from CapCut, you can use external tools to compress the video further:

  • HandBrake: A free, open-source video transcoder that allows you to compress videos by adjusting settings like codec, bitrate, and resolution. You can reduce up to 90% of the file size using HandBrake after exporting from CapCut.

  • CapCut's Online Video Editor: CapCut offers an online platform where you can import your video and export it with customized settings to reduce file size without significant quality loss.

4. Monitor estimated file size at export:

When configuring export settings in CapCut, pay attention to the estimated file size provided. This can guide you in making adjustments to meet your desired file size constraints.

5. Choose appropriate video format:

Ensure you're exporting in the MP4 format, as it is widely supported and offers efficient compression without substantial quality loss.

6. Update CapCut to latest version:

Ensure you're using the latest version of CapCut, as updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes that can enhance export efficiency.

By carefully adjusting these settings and utilizing external compression tools, you should be able to reduce your video file sizes and export times, making it easier to upload your content within the limitations.
